Day 1 - Arrival into Colombo
- Arrive into Colombo and meet your Farbound representative on arrival.
- Fast-track airport assistance is arranged where available, followed by a private transfer to your arrival hotel.
- The day is kept deliberately light. Settle in, rest after the flight, and shift into the island’s slower rhythm.
- Dinner is planned at the hotel or at a selected Colombo restaurant, depending on arrival time.
Day 2 - Arrive into Colombo and meet your Farbound representative on arrival. Fast-track airport assistance is arranged where available, followed by a private transfer to your arrival hotel. The day is kept deliberately light. Settle in, rest after the flight, and shift into the island’s slower rhythm. Dinner is planned at the hotel or at a selected Colombo restaurant, depending on arrival time.
- Leave Colombo after breakfast and drive north into the Cultural Triangle.
- Where timing suits, visit the Dambulla Cave Temples, a sequence of painted cave shrines set below a granite overhang.
- Continue to your lodge near Sigiriya or Anuradhapura and settle into the landscape of tanks, forests, and low hills.
- The afternoon is left open after the drive.
- Dinner is at the lodge.
Day 3 - Sigiriya, slow
- Start early for Sigiriya Rock Fortress, climbing before the heat builds.
- The route moves past the water gardens, fresco gallery, mirror wall, and the final staircase to the summit.
- For travellers who prefer a quieter view rather than the full climb, Pidurangala can be planned as an alternative.
- Lunch is arranged at an easy pace.
- The afternoon remains flexible: village visit, lake experience, pool time, or the lodge.
Day 4 - Sigiriya to Kandy
- Drive south towards Kandy, the last royal capital of Sri Lanka.
- A spice garden stop near Matale can be included if it adds value to the day.
- In the evening, visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic for the puja, with drums, flowers, and the procession around the inner shrine.
- The rest of the evening is kept light.
- Dinner is at the hotel.
Day 5 - Into the tea estates
- Continue into Sri Lanka’s high tea country, climbing towards Hatton, Castlereagh, and the Bogawantalawa valley.
- Where the schedule works, a segment of the hill-country observation train can be built into the route, with your vehicle meeting you at the other end.
- Arrive at your tea-estate bungalow and settle into the slower rhythm of the hills.
- Expect old estate paths, cool air, long lawns, and views across working tea country.
- Dinner is at the bungalow.
Day 6 - Tea trails
- Spend the day in the tea estates.
- Begin with a guided estate walk and tea experience, tracing the journey from leaf to cup across estate, altitude, flush, and factory process.
- Walk the old estate paths between bungalows, take a boat on the reservoir where available, or keep the day entirely lodge-led.
- Lunch is planned slowly.
- The afternoon is left open for the bungalow, pool, garden, reading, or spa.
- Dinner is at the bungalow.
Day 7 - Tea Country to Yala
- Leave the hill country after breakfast and descend towards Sri Lanka’s south-east.
- The landscape changes through tea, forest, small towns, dry scrub, and open plains.
- Arrive at your lodge near Yala National Park and settle in.
- An afternoon game drive can be included if timing allows.
- Dinner is at the lodge.
Note: Yala Block 1 usually closes for a period around September to mid-October. The route is adjusted around park operations and wildlife conditions.
Day 8 - Yala safari
- Spend the day around Yala, with private jeep safaris arranged at the best available times.
- A specialist naturalist is included where arranged.
- Yala is known for leopard, elephant, sloth bear, crocodile, deer, and strong birdlife. Sightings are never guaranteed, so the day is planned with realistic expectations and the best available safari windows.
- The middle of the day is kept for the lodge, pool, spa, and rest.
- Dinner is at the lodge.
Day 9 - Yala to the South Coast
- Travel west towards the south coast.
- The journey can be done by road along the coast, or by seaplane where the service operates and meaningfully shortens the day.
- Arrive at your coastal hotel and settle in.
- The afternoon is left open for the beach, pool, spa, or a quiet first evening by the water.
- Dinner is at the hotel.
Day 10 - South coast & Galle
- Visit Galle Fort in the morning, before the day becomes too warm.
- Take the ramparts, lighthouse, Dutch-colonial lanes, churches, cafés, and small workshops at an easy pace.
- Return to the coast for the afternoon.
- The rest of the day is left open for the beach, pool, spa, or private downtime.
- Farewell dinner on the coast.
Day 11 - Departure via Colombo
- The final morning is kept simple.
- After breakfast, transfer privately to Colombo Airport by coastal expressway, timed to your onward flight.
- Your Farbound team coordinates departure timing and local handling.
